The ambition of the Dutch government is that by 2030 all newly sold cars will be zero-emission. This will involve a need for 1.7 million charging points. One of the ways to achieve this quickly and efficiently is to develop charging plazas.
With the Living Lab Smart Charging Plazas, we are realising 46 charging squares in 19 municipalities – 489 charging points in total. Sharing knowledge is an important pillar of this pilot project. By subsidising this project, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment wishes to ensure that the technology is developed further and made more accessible to users and market parties. The participating municipalities will share the knowledge they have acquired, so that all municipalities in the Netherlands can benefit.
Within the living lab, we test smart and innovative techniques. In this way, we learn how to apply smart charging in the best possible way.
